I think you are so right! A company reinforces it's brand through marketing, PR, etc... but as customers react to what you put out there, your company needs to respond, as long as that response is organic.

Being open and flexible enough to respond the reactions of your market will keep your company fresh and relevant.

But if the changes aren't natural developments/extensions of the core company values, your customers will become confused. So the main characteristics that make up your brand need to be deeply considered, because they will become the foundation for all future building blocks of your company.

Beth, thanks for the comment. Although I didn't write the post, I'd say that successful branding not only lays the foundation for marketing, PR, and advertising, but is also constantly re-constituted through marketing, PR, and advertising.

To me, branding is like an organic process that grows and adapts over time.

What do you think? How much do you think brands should change to adapt?

This a great post. Successful branding is so important because it lays the foundation for your marketing, PR, advertising, etc... Thanks for the good examples.
